Did you know taking honey could counter pollen allergies?

Honey is an alternative, and natural way to treat those seasonal allergies. When you digest honey you are also digesting pollen; and overtime building immunity to pollen.

It gives you an energy boost

Forget the energy drinks, honey is a natural energy alternative. Fun fact, runners in Ancient Greece used honey as an energy source. The high levels of carbohydrate are a source of energy. Fructos and Glucos contents are absorbed by the body quicker and hit your blood stream faster; giving you a better and natural energy boost though-out the day.

It’s a natural cough suppressant

Natural honey has been recognized as an effective cough suppressant. Studies around this have been recorded and have proven that honey can reduce coughing and improve sleep. The American Academy of Pediatrics conducted a study on children aged 1 to 5. The experiment advised parents to give their children 2 teaspoons of honey 30 minutes before going to bed. It was proven that these children experienced less coughing and better sleeping.

Strengthens your immune system

Taking honey in general strengthens your immunity, but a recent study on Manuka honey and Buckwheat honey has shown that honey stimulates the production of immune cells. On the Doctor OZ shows Dr. Tasneem Bhatia explains

“Buckwheat honey should be a part of every winter medicine cabinet,” said Dr. Bhatia “and here is why—it’s high in antioxidants and it really has a lot of immune boosting properties. Ideally the buckwheat honey has a darker, richer flavor, it’s a little bit like molasses…this particular honey can keep you healthy throughout the winter.”

Keeps your memory healthy

A study done on 102 women who were given 20 grams of honey per day showed a memory boost when recalling words. The simplest way and rule of thumb is to take one or two spoons full of honey

Helps with ulcers and gastrointestinal problems

Research shows that applying honey to an ulcer can help speed up recovery. Consuming honey also helps with stomach ulcers and diarrhea. Honey helps block bacteria from attaching itself to the intestinal cells, preventing a gastrointestinal infection from occurring.
