Lymphatic drainage massage session for post-BBL recovery
Why it matters

Your surgery was the first step. Recovery is the rest.

After a Brazilian Butt Lift, your body has a lot of healing to do. Fluid accumulates, tissue hardens, and swelling can obscure the results you invested in. Lymphatic drainage massage is the most effective hands-on way to support that process — moving trapped fluid, softening fibrotic tissue, and helping your body recover the way it is supposed to.

Reduce swelling faster

Lymphatic drainage moves trapped fluid out of the tissues, helping your body resolve post-surgical swelling weeks earlier than it would on its own.

Prevent and soften fibrosis

Those hard lumps and uneven areas under the skin? Consistent lymphatic work helps break them up and prevent new ones from forming.

Improve your final shape

By keeping fluid moving and tissue smooth during healing, lymphatic drainage helps you see the results your surgeon intended — sooner and more evenly.

Experienced BBL-trained therapists

Our Jefferson Blvd team has specific training in post-surgical lymphatic protocols. They understand BBL recovery timelines and know how to adapt session by session.

Your recovery timeline

What to expect, week by week

Every body heals differently, but here is the general arc of post-BBL lymphatic drainage.

Weeks 1–2 post-op

Sessions focus on moving acute swelling. You may need 2–3 sessions per week. Tenderness is normal — your therapist keeps pressure gentle.

Weeks 3–4 post-op

Swelling begins to resolve. Sessions target emerging fibrosis and uneven areas. Many clients drop to 1–2 sessions per week.

Weeks 5–8 post-op

Tissue smoothing and contouring become the focus. Results become more visible as fluid clears. Weekly sessions are typical.

Weeks 8–12+ post-op

Maintenance phase. Monthly or as-needed visits to keep tissue smooth and address any lingering areas. Your final shape continues to settle.

Your session

What happens during a session

Gentle, intentional, and focused on your healing.

Brief intake

1

Every visit

Your therapist checks in on where you are in recovery — how you are feeling, any new areas of concern, and what your surgeon has recommended. Then you are right into the session.

Gentle, targeted technique

2

Every visit

Using light, rhythmic strokes, your therapist moves fluid away from swollen areas and toward your lymph nodes. The pressure is much lighter than a standard massage — that is by design.

FAQs

Common questions about post-BBL lymphatic drainage

What is lymphatic drainage massage?
Lymphatic drainage is a gentle, rhythmic massage technique that encourages the natural movement of lymph fluid through your body. It reduces swelling, flushes toxins, and supports your immune system — all of which are critical after a BBL procedure.
When can I start lymphatic drainage after my BBL?
Most surgeons recommend starting within 1–2 weeks post-op, but always follow your surgeon's specific timeline. We are happy to coordinate with your provider if needed.
How many sessions will I need?
A typical post-BBL protocol is 5–12 sessions over the first 6–8 weeks. Many clients come in 2–3 times per week initially, then taper as swelling resolves. Your therapist will recommend a cadence based on your progress.
Does it hurt?
Lymphatic drainage is a very gentle technique — lighter pressure than a traditional massage. You may feel some tenderness in areas of swelling, but the work itself should not be painful. If you are experiencing fibrosis or hard spots, your therapist will adjust accordingly.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Many clients wear their compression garment to and from the appointment. Your therapist will work with professional draping throughout the session.
Do I need a referral from my surgeon?
A referral is not required, but we recommend letting your surgeon know you are receiving lymphatic drainage. If your provider has specific post-op instructions, bring those along so your therapist can follow them.
Will this help with fibrosis?
Yes. Lymphatic drainage can help soften fibrotic tissue (those hard lumps or uneven areas that sometimes develop after surgery). Consistent sessions support smoother, more even results over time.
Is this only for BBL recovery?
No — we offer lymphatic drainage for anyone who needs it: post-surgical recovery of all kinds, swelling from medical conditions, or general detox and immune support. But our Jefferson Blvd therapists have specific training and experience with post-BBL protocols.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please give us at least 24 hours notice if you need to reschedule. Late cancellations and no-shows may be charged a fee, since we block a therapist and room specifically for you.
