Massage / Deep Tissue

Deep Tissue Massage

Targeted pressure that works through the layers.

Deep tissue massage starts light to relax surface muscles, then works into the layers below. It is not about how hard the pressure goes — it is about how precisely it works through the muscle in the area you are holding tension. Slower, more focused, and tuned to the specific spots that have been bothering you.

Why book this

What you can expect to feel

Real relief

Releases chronic tension that lighter pressure cannot reach. The kind of result you actually feel two days later.

Better range of motion

Loosens muscle adhesions and restrictions so you move more freely — better posture, fewer compensations.

Recovery support

Helps athletes and active bodies recover from heavy training, repetitive use, or injury rehab.

Sleep and stress

Releasing chronic muscle tension calms the nervous system. Many clients report better sleep that night.

During

What to expect

Your therapist starts light to warm the tissue, then increases pressure as your body lets it in. The pace is slower than a relaxation massage and more focused on specific areas. Communication is essential — pressure that crosses into sharp pain is not productive, and we will adjust any time you ask.
After

Aftercare

Hydrate well through the rest of the day. Mild soreness for 24 to 48 hours is normal — it should feel different from injury pain. A warm shower or heating pad on focus areas extends the relief, and gentle movement the next day helps too.

FAQ

Common questions

Will it hurt?
Deep tissue should feel intense in places, not sharp. "Good hurt" — pressure that you can breathe through — is fine. Anything that crosses into actual pain means we adjust immediately. Tell your therapist; that is what they are listening for.
How is it different from a regular massage?
A relaxation (Swedish) massage uses long, flowing strokes to calm the system. Deep tissue uses slower, more focused work to address chronic tension and specific problem areas. Same therapist, different intent.
Do I have to be sore the next day?
Some people are mildly sore for a day or two, similar to after a workout. Plenty of clients walk out feeling great with no soreness at all. Hydration helps.
Is HSA or FSA eligible?
Often yes when there is a documented medical reason (chronic pain, injury rehab, a specific condition). See our HSA / FSA guide for what your plan typically asks for.
