Sports Massage

Targeted bodywork for athletes and active bodies.

Sports massage combines stretching, deep tissue, and trigger-point work to support active recovery and injury prevention. It is good before or after a race, after a long training block, or any time training volume is up and your body is talking back. Specific therapists at our Jefferson Blvd location specialize in sports and rehab work.

Why book this

What you can expect to feel

Faster recovery

Helps muscles flush waste and rebuild faster after hard sessions or events.

Injury prevention

Catches restrictions before they become injuries. Cheap insurance for any training plan.

Better mobility

Active stretching and trigger-point work restore range of motion in tight areas.

Mental reset

Hard training is hard mentally too. An hour off your feet helps the head as much as the body.

During

What to expect

A more active session than a relaxation massage. Your therapist may include passive stretching, deeper trigger-point work, and longer attention to specific muscle groups based on your sport. Tell them what you do, what is bothering you, and what is coming up on your training calendar — they will tune the work to fit.
After

Aftercare

Hydrate and eat well in the hours after. Some soreness is normal, similar to after a hard workout. Skip your hardest session the next day; an easy day or rest day is ideal. For pre-event sports massage, plan it 2 to 5 days before so you are fresh on race day.

FAQ

Common questions

How close to a race should I book?
Two to five days before is the sweet spot for most events. Avoid deep work in the 24 hours before — that can leave you feeling heavy on race day. After your event, anywhere from same-day to a week later works.
Do you treat specific injuries?
We support recovery from many overuse and soft-tissue issues, but we are not a replacement for a doctor or PT. If you have an acute injury, see a provider first; we work in tandem with their plan.
Should I tell the therapist what I do?
Yes — sport, training volume, what is bothering you, and what is on the calendar. The more they know, the better they tune the session.
Is sports massage HSA / FSA eligible?
Often yes with a Letter of Medical Necessity for documented overuse injuries or rehab. Check with your plan administrator.
